In order to help sophomores build their career plans, a lecture named “How to efficiently make our career-planning” was carried out by Yi Mingyao, an intermediate career supervisor of Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) and a global career planner of GCDF; and the lecture was presided over by the faculty Wang Tong from School of Civil Engineering (SCE) at 2 pm on October 21st.
This lecture started with Miss Yi’s brief self-introduction. She broke through the topic by playing a clip from the movie CZ12, pointing out that cultivating the awareness of career planning is essential to expand and think about the multiple dimensions of life, and then gave a detailed introduction on how college students should broaden their own dimensions. Afterwards, Miss Yi showed the students that “time lost cannot be recalled” through a short animation, and emphasized that whether a job is suitable for a college student depends on three aspects: personal interests, abilities and values.
As for the question that often confused undergraduates, to prepare for the postgraduate entrance examination or start a job-hunting, Miss Yi gave her answer, and then analyzed the current employment situation, reminding the students to grasp every opportunity by making full use of the abundant resources from the university, such as various studios in different disciplines and training camps.
At the end of the lecture, Miss Yi encouraged the students by sharing the stories of two students from SCE, to face hardship, keep learning, step out of the comfort zone, and then find the best choice for personal development.
The students benefited a lot from the lecture, and had a clearer direction for their future careers. Finally, the lecture ended successfully with warm applause. All students should enjoy everyday life and meanwhile prepare for the future, make a suitable life plan and work hard to make their dreams come true.
