1. Science and Technology Competition Month in SCE
The “Science and Technology Competition Month” in SCE has been successfully held for 17 years since 2000. After 17 years, it has developed from the original school-level individual competitions to university-level activities that rely on civil engineering disciplines and integrate lectures, seminars, design, production, research papers and so on, covering the three campuses of Jiuli, Xipu and Emei of SWJTU, with the participation of more than ten schools and departments of Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, Humanities, Geosciences, Architecture, Mechanics and Materials Science. Each year, there are more than 3,000 student participants, nearly 100 professional teachers and more than 600 finished models. In the past, there were outstanding participants and excellent works which impressed all involved. SWJTU won Grand Prize in the third and fifth National Structure Design Competition for University Students and won first prizes in the sixth, seventh, tenth and eleventh National Structure Design Competition for University Students. 2. National academic competition and innovation activities
During the construction of innovative practice teaching platform, we have taken the academic competitions as a fixed part in the training process of civil engineering students. By encouraging, selecting, recommending and leading students to participate in various national academic competitions, and fostering students' abilities of innovation and practice, we have given support to students who participate in competitions in a more streamlined and high-quality manner.
2.1 National academic competitions for university students
Since 2014, students from SCE have won many awards in academic innovation activities, including one grand prize, 25 first prizes, 19 second prizes and 10 third prizes in national science and technology competitions.
The undergraduates of SCE have participated in the National Structural Design Competition for University Students seven times in the past years and they have won two grand prizes, three first prizes and two third prizes.
The grand prize in the 3th National Structure Design Competition for University Students was awarded in 2009.
The grand prize in the 5th National Structure Design Competition for University Students was awarded in 2011.
2.2 National academic competitions for postgraduates
From 2014 to 2018, postgraduates of the School of Civil Engineering actively participated in various competitions such as the National Postgraduate Mathematical Contest inModeling, the 2018 "CCCC Highway Consultants Cup", World University Students' Bridge Design Competition, China University Students' 'Internet Plus' Innovation, Entrepreneurship Competition, and the Sun Xunfang Mechanics Competition for University Students of Sichuan Province. Our students have performed well in all the competitions.
