“Competition and Passion Meet Victory”—The 8th Faculty and Staff Football Game of Southwest Jiaotong University—the Group Game on April 12

2021 SWJTU Sunlight Sports 8th faculty and staff football game (Futsal) continued in full swing at 7:30pm on April 12. The participants in the game are the team from the School of Civil Engineering (SCE) and the team from the School of Physics (SP).

This game started with the referee’ s whistle. First, after getting the ball, our players did not rush for a quick goal, but kept calm, changing the formations and slowly ran towards the opponent’ s goal. Likewise, the opponent also changed their formations calmly in accordance with ours. Although we unfortunately missed the first goal, our power was demonstrated by the swift and strategic kicks, and also our team won cheers from spectators.

Afterwards, our players launched a fierce attack so that the opponents could not resist and then fouled in penalty areas. Therefore, our team got a precious penalty and finally scored a significant goal at 7:51 pm followed by a lot of cheers in the field. Certainly, this goal ignited the passion of our players. They were more involved in the following game and attacked again at 7:58 pm to score. In the end, our players won the first half with 2:0.

With the experience of the first half, both teams cooperated more tacitly, showing their superb footwork and meticulous deployment in the second half. Also, due to the loss of the first half, the opponents repeatedly attacked in the second half and broke into our penalty areas, and scored a goal soon after. This goal also ignited their fighting spirit and made more fierce attacks. However, with the tireless and strict defense of our players, especially Mr. Wang Feng who blocked the opponent's attacks many times by his body, and the opponents did not score another goal. At last, our team won this group game with a score of 2:1.

All in all, sports competition is not only the contest of will or challenge of speed, but also a test of the cohesive force of a team. It is the strength, passion, unity and enthusiasm of our teachers that made the victory tonight. Although the game is over, the spirits continue. We believe that this victory is only a starting point for teachers of SCE exploring more brilliance and dreams and creating better futures.
