Sichuan Key Laboratory of Seismic Engineering Technology
The laboratory was approved as a provincial key laboratory in 2008. The laboratory covers an area of 8,312 square meters and is equipped with equipment worth over 79.5 million RMB, including large precision equipment such as seismic simulation table, etc. The laboratory mainly undertakes major basic theory and key application technology research in seismic design of urban buildings and traffic civil engineering in western China, seismic evaluation and construction process of large-scale lifeline system, implementation of major traffic projects with high seismic resistance, site selection and construction of small- and medium-sized towns and large transportation hubs, and forecast and treatment of all kinds of geological hazards, etc.

With top talent as the core, the laboratory has built five leading research teams covering the key areas of anti-seismic engineering, namely, an innovative research team of ground motion propagation and earthquake ground motion led by Professor Liu Zhengping, Associate Professor Zhang Yingbin and other scholars as the backbones; an innovative research team of seismic resistance and vibration damping of traffic tunnel and application study, led by Professor He Chuan (a member of the Changjiang Scholars Program), Professor Gao Bo and Professor Qiu Wenge as the core; an innovative research team of pier-water coupling vibration theory led by Professor Li Qiao, Professor Zhou Lingyuan and other scholars as the backbones; an innovative research team of earthquake early warning of high-speed railway led by Professor Zhang Jianjing as the core and young scholars such as Yang Changwei, as the backbone; an innovative research team of prevention technology for secondary disaster after earthquake led by Professor Zhao Shichun as the core and Associate Professor Yu Zhixiang as the backbone.
Under the support of 973 Program, National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the Key Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), NSFC, and National Cooperative Program, etc., the research teams of the laboratory have made great research achievements in the aspects of earthquake early warning of high-speed railway, prevention and control technology for secondary disaster after earthquake, construction and safe operation control technology of large-scale tunnel group of highways in active fault zone, and seismic design technology for bridges, etc.
