Highway Engineering Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province
Highway Engineering Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province (hereinafter referred to as the laboratory) was approved by Science and Technology Department of Sichuan Province in July 2011, and established on the basis of the disciplinary advantages of Southwest Jiaotong University in transportation engineering, civil engineering, geological engineering, surveying and mapping, etc. The current director of the laboratory is Professor Qiu Yanjun. The director of the academic committee of the laboratory is Professor Sha Aimin, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Chang’ an University.
Focusing on the complex natural geography and climate environment of Sichuan Province, the laboratory is committed to the applied basic research in the field of highway engineering and the relevant researches on key engineering technology programs that directly serve the economic development of Sichuan Province. The laboratory is mainly dedicated to three research fields: new pavement materials and the theory and method of structure design, the design theory of complex environment and special soil subgrade, and the advanced technology as well as new technology of road survey and design.
There are a group of leading experts working in the laboratory, including Academician Wang Fuming, Professor Qiu Yanjun, Professor Lu Yang, and Professor Ai Changfa, etc. The laboratory has a batch of advanced testing equipment for pavement materials and pavement conditions, and the testing capability and research ability rank among the top in southwest China. At present, the laboratory is an important base for basic and applied basic research in the field of highway engineering in southwest China, for training high-level scientific research talent and carrying out scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad. It has made great contributions to and provided strong technical support for the construction of transportation infrastructure in Sichuan and served national economic development.
Team members of the laboratory attended international academic conferences.
